May meeting

During the May meeting, members who attended Letters of Joy shared their experiences and showed what they did in their classes. Everyone agreed that they enjoyed the event and found it to be beneficial. Other members shared what they have been working on: Jadie Henton and her friend created a clever calendar; Sandee Freeman made some beautiful large postcards that incorporated fabric and stitching; Sandy Placek and Genaveve talked about their entries in the exhibit of “reuse, recycle, and re-purpose” at the Irrigation Festival. Several people commented that they liked the things they learned and appreciated the sharing format of the program.

Pam Hunter was presented with a gift of appreciation for her three years of service as president. It was a book of member art, with gift certificates to Olympic Stationers and Starbucks. Linda O’Neil provided the beautiful handmade book and organized the contributions, so thank you, Linda!  We are grateful to Pam for extending her term an extra year when no one else stepped up to serve.

The nominating committee, Pam Hunter and Sandee Freeman, presented a slate of candidates and there were no nominations from the floor. The candidates were declared elected by authority of interim secretary, Susan Blenk. Officers for 2019 to 2021 term are: President Genaveve Starr, Vice-President Linda O’Neil, Treasurer Karen Larson, Secretary JoAnne Hughes, and co-Hospitality members Flow Wilkens and Sandee Freeman.  Pam presented the gavel(s) to Genaveve and told us it was bittersweet to relinquish the responsibility but that she feels it is good to have changing leadership that will develop new direction. Linda and Sandee gifted Genaveve with a bag imprinted with Peninsula Scribes logo in appreciation for her taking on the role of president.

There were just a few submissions for the May prompt:
